What our prices represent
The prices shown on this site are informational estimates, not guaranteed pharmacy quotes. They reflect a typical range that patients paying out of pocket might expect, based on publicly available information at the time each article was checked.
Where pricing information comes from
We use publicly listed pharmacy prices, government and regulatory healthcare resources (such as NHS guidance in the UK and PBS information in Australia), and publicly available drug pricing information in the USA. We do not have commercial partnerships with pharmacies or drug manufacturers that influence the prices we report.
How we compare prices
Where possible, we compare pricing across more than one source rather than relying on a single price point, and present a range rather than a single figure to reflect real-world variation between pharmacies and regions.
Generic and brand medications
Generic and brand-name versions of the same medication can have very different prices. Where both exist, we note this separately rather than presenting a single blended price.
Dosage and quantity
Price also depends on the strength (mg) and quantity (e.g. 30 vs 90 tablets) prescribed. Our price ranges are based on commonly prescribed dosages and quantities, which we note where relevant.
Country-specific differences
“Without insurance” does not mean the same thing in every country covered on this site:
– In the USA, pricing is largely unregulated and varies by pharmacy.
– In the UK, many patients pay a fixed NHS prescription charge, while others
pay a private pharmacy price if the medication is obtained privately.
– In Australia, some medications are subsidized under the Pharmaceutical
Benefits Scheme (PBS), while non-PBS medications are priced independently
by pharmacies.
We describe these distinctions separately for each country rather than treating “price without insurance” as a single comparable figure.
Why prices change
Pharmacy prices can change over time due to supply, regional variation, and pricing policy changes. A price checked several months ago may no longer be current.
What our price ranges do not represent
Our price ranges are estimates and may not include taxes, dispensing fees, delivery charges, membership discounts, coupons, insurance adjustments, or government subsidies unless explicitly stated. They are not a guarantee of what you will pay at a specific pharmacy.
How often information is reviewed
Each article shows the date pricing was last checked. We aim to review pricing information periodically, but we recommend confirming current pricing directly with a pharmacy before making a purchasing decision.
Reporting outdated information
If you believe pricing on this site is outdated or incorrect, please contact us and we will review it.
